Thirty-second Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 17:20-25

Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;  nor will they say, `Behold, here it is!’ or `There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” And he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you will not see  it. And they will say to you, `Behold, there!’ or `Behold, here!’ Do not go, do not follow them. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of man be in his day. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today proclaims Jesus who tells us about the coming of God and his kingdom. Jesus says that the kingdom of God is already here among us! Jesus speaks of the coming of God’s kingdom as both a present event and an event which will be manifested at the end of time.

In the Lord Jesus Christ we see both  the power and the glory of God’s kingdom. His divine power overthrew the powers of darkness and sin which corrupts and enslaves the human mind, heart, and will to the forces of evil and wrongdoing.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we trust in him that the kingdom of God has come among us. We do not know the time of his return, so we will not mistake it when it happens.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, may your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May we always live in the freedom of your love and truth. Help us to recognize your presence in our daily lives now and forever. Amen.
