The Seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Mark 10:1-12

Jesus came into the district of Judea and across the Jordan. And crowds again gathered around him; and, as was his custom, he again taught them. Some Pharisees came, and to test him they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.” But Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote this commandment for you. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Then in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel today we read that the Pharisees come to Jesus not as learners, but as those who know better. They are constantly arrogant and easily judging others. Even to Jesus, their aim is to test him, to find what is wrong, and to trap him in his words.

Learning from them we can ask ourselves, how do we approach the teaching of Jesus and his Church? Are we, with faith, open to learn and change our behavior, if necessary? Or do we, with a hardened heart, look for a way to affirm our own truth?

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus who became flesh and then left us his flesh. It may be only in the Eucharist and Adoration.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in your immeasurable love presented in your gift of the Eucharist. We believe that you call us to share in this gift with our own gift of selves. Grant us a desire to know your will in the Eucharist and Adoration now and forever. Amen.
