Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 13:18-21

Jesus said, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a person took and Luke 13:22-30

Jesus passed through towns and villages, teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem. Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” He answered them, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough. After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ He will say to you in reply, ‘I do not know where you are from.’ And you will say, ‘We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.’ Then he will say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from. Depart from me, all you evildoers!’ And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God and you yourselves cast out. And people will come from the east and the west and from the north and the south and will recline at table in the kingdom of God. For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel today Jesus Christ says, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.” Let’s ask Jesus Christ to grant us the humility and sincerity to enter by the narrow gate.

Jesus says, “Strive to enter by the narrow gate.” Strive is the key word, since apparently, many are going to try to enter and fail, because the gate is so narrow. It means that we have to take Jesus seriously; to try hard enough. So do not love something more than we love Jesus.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ we learn to enter through the narrow gate with him. We need to follow him with as much sincerity and honesty as we are capable of, doing his will and not our own.

Let’s: Lord Jesus Christ, we see how often we fail in what we know we should be doing for you. Grant us your Holy Spirit to help us open our eyes to see if we are falling short before it is too late. Help us to enter by the narrow gate in order to be with you in heaven now and fofever. Amen.
