Twenty-Second Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 4:31-37

Jesus then went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, “Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. They were all amazed and said to one another, “What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

FROM the Gospel reading today we take a lesson on how to respond to Jesus Christ when we meet him in our lives. We have to meet him with obedience.

Jesus Christ gives us his life-giving word every day. We are called to approach him with meekness and humility, and with an eagerness to do everything he desires.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we adore Jesus Christ who presents himself as the Living Bread come down from heaven for us. We approach him with meekness and humility there to follow him and to conform our lives according to his word. Are we ready to follow him and to conform our lives according to his will?

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you know us and you know everything about us. May we not become blinded by the arrogance of our own opinions and ideas. Help us to keep you always before us as the goal of our lives now and forever. Amen.
