Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to Luke 8:1-3
Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today tells us that there are some people who serve and support the work of the Gospel with their personal resourches. First of all they are the twelve apostles. The second, they are some women. And the third is called “many others, who provided for them out of their means”.
Why do they want to be united in a bond of friendship, service, and loyalty to Jesus? Certainly it is because of Jesus who has transformed them. Jesus has touched them so deeply that they are grateful to do anything for him.
From the Gospel today we learn about being ready to serve Jesus Christ and to support his work of preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God with our personal resources. Surely, our privilege and joy is to serve Jesus Christ as he served with humility, selfless love, generosity, joy, and a willingness to do whatever God asks of us.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we serve Jesus Christ by worshipping him. There we also have a power to love and serve others. This is one of the joy of serving Jesus in company with others who love and serve him willingly.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, set our hearts on fire for you that we may give freely of the gifts, talents, and resources you give us, for your sake and for the work of the Gospel. May we serve you and others faithfully now and forever. Amen.
