The Third Week of Advent

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 21:28-32

“What do you think? A man had two sons; and he went to the first and said, `Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ And he answered, `I will not’; but afterward he repented and went. And he went to the second and said the same; and he answered, `I go, sir,’ but did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the harlots believed him; and even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today records about Jesus who tells a simple story of two imperfect sons to illustrate the way of God’s kingdom. The kingdom of God is like our father who ambundantly provides for us, his daughters and sons food, lodging, and everything we need. Even, our father also rewards us with excellent work in his own vineyard. He expects us to show him gratitude, loyalty, and honor by doing our fair share of the daily work.

With this story, Jesus wants to encourage us to think about the consequences of our choices that will count not just for now but for eternity as well. Our choices now will affect and shape our future, both our future on earth as well as in heaven.

First of all we have to convert to do what is good and pleasing to God. We must change our mind and do what our father commands us in our daily life.

In the Perpetusl Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we ask him a transformed heart filled with gratitude and respect for everything he gives us ambundantly. There we let him to change our hearts so that we will show by our speech and by our actions that we respect his will and do it.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you offer us the greatest treasure possible, peace, joy, and friendship with you in your everlasting kingdom. Fill us with the gift of the Holy Spirit who works in and through us for the glory of God. May we seek to please God and respect his will and loving plan for our life now and forever. Amen.
