The Second Week of Advent

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus Christ says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

JESUS’ words today gives us hope that he will make us happy and calm in him. We just come to him then we will find rest for our souls.

Coming to him means taking his yoke upon us. What kind of yoke does the Lord Jesus have in mind for each one of us? He says his yoke is easy. In this context, easy means also well-fitting.

So, taking Jesus’ yoke means living the heavenly way of life and happiness. He invites each one of us to be yoked with him. It means that he wants to unite our lives with him, our will with his will, our heart with his heart.

By taking his yoke, we let him carry our burdens with us. No burden is too heavy when it’s carried in love. When we yoke our lives with Jesus, he also carries our burdens with us and gives us his strength to follow in his way of love.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we pray that we experience the joy of resting in Jesus’ presence. We are then walking daily with him along the path he has for us.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you come to establish God’s kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy. We put our trust in you. You free us from the burden of sin and guilt for only you can lift the burden of sin and the weight of hopelessness from us. May we embrace your way of power and freedom to live in love, peace, and joy as God’s sons and daughters now and forever. Amen.
