Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to Luke 10:38-42

Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today proclaims about Jesus Christ who lovingly visits the home of Martha and Mary. We read two very different temperaments in Martha and Mary in welcoming Jesus.

In her simple and trusting manner, Mary is sitting attentively at Jesus’ feet. She intensively listens to him. She knows what her Lord and Teacher most wants at that moment.

Martha serves Jesus but in her anxiety. It keeps her from listening and from giving the Lord her undivided attention.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we seek the Lord attentively. We can learn it from Mary, sister of Martha. There may Jesus Christ the Lord finds a welcomed and honored place in our lives.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you desire that we make a place for you, not only in our hearts, but in our homes and in the daily circumstances of our lives as well. May we honor you in Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist and listen to you there now and forever. Amen.
