Sixth Week of Easter

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. John 16:12-15

Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN today’s Gospel, Jesus Christ  tells us that he has many more things to tell us, but it seems that we are not yet ready to accept the truth. As his apostles were not ready to acknowledge the fact that in a few short hours all of them would flee before the prospect of the Cross, leaving Christ quite alone; we may also find it hard to see and to accept our relationship with Jesus Christ. We may justify ourselves with any number of rationalistic reasons.

Today we are living in our consumeristic and globalization of indifference world. In such situation, first impressions often seem to count more than the goodness or evil of a thing. We set the standard for right and wrong, and a false idea of tolerance. We lack of the solidarity for other’s suffering.

Thanks to God that Jesus Christ reminds us about the Holy Spirit who is at work in such world by declaring the truth loud and clear in the depths of the human soul. He is the Spirit of truth who will guide us to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to us the things that are coming.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we ask him to grant the Holy Spirit. In his guidance he gives us the power to bring true peace and joy to the human heart.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you give us the example of your life and death as one of complete honesty. Empower us through the Spirit of Truth to be sincere in all that we do before God and others now and forever. Amen.
