Third Week of Easter

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. John 6: 52-59

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my Flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.” These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN today’s Gospel, Jesus Christ says something truly shocking for whoever does not trust in him. He wants to give his Flesh to eat and his Blood to drink. He reveals this to the crowds, and since they lack faith, they don’t understand.

He wants us to eat his Flesh and drink his Blood! It must be accepted in faith. He wants to give us something much better for our salvation.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ, we are not looking to fill our stomachs or our minds; but we are looking to fill our souls and hearts. Jesus grants us his gifts that he intends to give  in abundance.

Let’s pray: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, so often we are looking for material gifts from you. Help us to realize that the greatest gifts you give may be beyond our understanding. May we thankfully accept your Flesh and Blood in the Eucharist and worship you in Perpetual Adoration now and forever. Amen.
