The Church that lives in Italy and, through the Dioceses and parishes, draws near to every man, shares the common concern, facing the health emergency that is affecting the country.
With respect to this situation, the CEI – within a confrontation and collaboration relationship – in recent weeks has made its own, relaunching them, the measures through which the Government is committed to contrasting the spread of the “coronavirus”.
The Decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which entered into force today, suspends “civil and religious ceremonies, including funeral ceremonies” throughout the country until Friday 3 April.
The interpretation provided by the government strictly includes Holy Masses and funeral rites among “religious ceremonies”.
It is a highly restrictive passage, the reception of which encounters sufferings and difficulties for Pastors, priests and faithful.
The acceptance of the Decree is mediated solely by the desire to do its part, also in this situation, to contribute to the protection of public health.

La Chiesa che vive in Italia e, attraverso le Diocesi e le parrocchie si rende prossima a ogni uomo, condivide la comune preoccupazione, di fronte all’emergenza sanitaria che sta interessando il Paese.
Rispetto a tale situazione, la CEI – all’interno di un rapporto di confronto e di collaborazione – in queste settimane ha fatto proprie, rilanciandole, le misure attraverso le quali il Governo è impegnato a contrastare la diffusione del “coronavirus”.
Il Decreto della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri, entrato in vigore quest’oggi, sospende a livello preventivo, fino a venerdì 3 aprile, sull’intero territorio nazionale “le cerimonie civili e religiose, ivi comprese quelle funebri”.
L’interpretazione fornita dal Governo include rigorosamente le Sante Messe e le esequie tra le “cerimonie religiose”. Si tratta di un passaggio fortemente restrittivo, la cui accoglienza incontra sofferenze e difficoltà nei Pastori, nei sacerdoti e nei fedeli.
L’accoglienza del Decreto è mediata unicamente dalla volontà di fare, anche in questo frangente, la propria parte per contribuire alla tutela della salute pubblica.

Menurut keterangan Romo Freddy Gonza SDV yang kini berkarya di Pulau Sicilia di wilayah Itallia Selatan, dalam surat edaran yang dirilis oleh Francesco Kardinal Montenegro itu berisi antara lain pokok-pokok penting sebagai berikut:
- Tidak ada perayaan yang sifatnya “terbuka” atau publik dalam skala besar seperti misa.
- Termasuk juga di sini ibadat Jalan Salib. Pokoknya mengimbau jangan menyelenggarkan semua bentuk kegiatan “kumpul-kumpul” yang melibatkan banyak orang.
- Ketentuan ini berlaku sejak “diundangkan” pada tanggal 8 Maret 2020 waktu Italia (atau tanggal 9 Maret waktu Indonesia sampai ketentuan ini “dicabut” nantinya tanggal 3 April 2020.
- Ketentuan ini dibuat guna mendukung “program” Pemerintah Italia untuk memerangi sebaran massif Coronavirus atau Covid-19 yang kini telah mewabah di kawasan Italia Utara.
