Memorial of Saint Cecilia, virgin and martyr

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 21:5-11

While some people were speaking about how the Temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, “All that you see here — the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.” Then they asked him, “Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?” He answered, “See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’ Do not follow them! When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.” Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IN the Gospel today Jesus Christ reminds us, saying, “See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’ Do not follow them!” Here Jesus teaches us to keep hoping in him despite the crises in our lives.

As being said in the Book of Revealation 2:10c, we have to remain faithful until death, and God will give us the crown of life. Jesus Christ himself will remain with us. Truly he remains with us everyday in the Eucharist.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ, we trust in him that he always remain with us. Yes he always remains hopeful and encourages the best in us. We too must be witnesses to hope. God will win in the end.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we trust in you that God will triumph over the hostile powers, even when they seem great and invincible. Grant that our lives will show that kind of optimism at every moment. Help us to remain faithful until death, and you will give us the crown of life forever and ever. Amen.
