Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 9:18-22

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.'” Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Messiah of God.” But he gave them strict orders and charged them not to say this to anyone. He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

IMAGINE that Jesus ask each of us personally, “Who do you say that I am?” How about us? Who is Jesus for us? Is he truly our Messiah and Redeemer? Do we preach this truth to others by the way we live and the words we speak?

Let’s ask him in this meditation and reflection that he gives us convincing words and actions so that others might come to recognize Jesus as the Messiah of God. This is our confession of faith, that Jesus is the Messiah who must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, we adore Jesus Christ, the true Messiah. He is the savior of the world. Through his passion and death he has become the solution to all of our problems.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Messiah who gives us all that is good. We need you, and we need to give you. We love you and commit ourselves to you entirely. Adoring you could never let each of us down. Thank you for giving us your very self. Grant us the courage to bear witness to you as the Messiah now and forever. Amen.
