The First Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Mark 1:40-45

And a leper came to him beseeching him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. And he sternly charged him, and sent him away at once, and said to him, “See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to the people.” But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter.

This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

LET’S meditate the word of the leper who came to Jesus Christ beseeching him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” We learn from the leper that he wants Jesus Christ more than he wants his cure.

The leper doesn’t give up in the fight to be cured. He opens his heart into Jesus. How beautiful the soul of this humble leper is in Jesus Christ’s eyes!

To the leper Jesus Christ demonstrates his mercy and love. He says, “I do will it. Be made clean!” And immediately the leprosy is made clean.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while worshipping Jesus Christ we let him open our hearts. We let him help us to accept all trials of the moment with humility and love for him who guides us.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, we see your hand moving from the leper to our souls, showing its power to transform. Your hand moves and all is cured, forgiven, and redeemed. We anchor our hope of holiness with confidence in your grace and unconditional love. May we never doubt your love nor cease to tell others of your mercy and compassion forever and ever. Amen.
