Sixth Week of Easter
The Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to St. Luke 24:46-53
And Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Then he led them out as far as Bethany, raised his hands, and blessed them. As he blessed them he parted from them and was taken up to heaven. They did him homage and then returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and they were continually in the Temple praising God.
This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

TODAY is the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We commemorate the bodily ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven.
After his suffered, died, rose on the third day he spent 40 days with the apostles and the disciples. Now, just before he ascends into heaven, he leaves his Church with this message of loving mercy and forgiveness.
The apostles experienced Our Lord’s mercy. Now he gives them the commission to go out into the whole world and preach forgiveness of sins in the power of his most holy of names, Jesus Christ.
In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist, while worshipping Jesus Christ, we are all beneficiaries of Our Lord’s mercy. It gives us power to bear witness to his work of loving mercy and forgiveness to the world.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for your loving mercy and forgiveness. May we give you only praise and adoration now and forever. Amen.
