Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to Luke 10:17-24

The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

THE Gospel today proclaims the joy of Jesus Christ. By reading this Gospel we are invited to know and to experience in our personal life the joy of the Lord Jesus Christ. In his joy, Jesus Christ rejoices God, the Father. Surely, the joy of the Lord is our strength (cfr. Nehemiah 8:11).

Today we learn from Jesus Christ that the true joy is not in our own successes. According to Jesus the true source of our joy is God himself, and God alone. God himself always assures us of true joy, regardless of our situations and circumstances, in good times and bad times, in success or loss.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist while adoring Jesus Christ we learn to thank to the Father in heaven for revealing to each of us the true joy. Nothing can give us greater joy than the knowledge that we are God’s beloved.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, you love each of us as if there were only one of us to love. Thank you that you love us. You are the true source of our joy. May we witness the joy of the Gospel now and forever. Amen.
