Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Dear my friends,
Here is the Gospel for us today according to Luke 9:7-9

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead, by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen. Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he sought to see him.

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

WHY did King Herod want to meet Jesus? The reason was not faith but his curiosity for he had killed John the Baptist. He had respected and feared John the Baptist as a great prophet and servant of God but he did not listen his message. When he heard about Jesus Christ, he thought that John the Baptist had risen from the dead!

Herod wanted to meet Jesus Christ not to follow him but to prevent him from troubling his conscience any further. He sought to meet Jesus more out of curiosity and fear than out of a sincere desire to know God’s will.

In Jesus Christ we find true peace with ourselves and with God. Only Jesus Christ can set us free, but we must listen to his voice and obey his word. In him, we find true peace, joy, and freedom to live as the children of God.

In the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist we worship Jesus Christ and as our priority in our daily life. We learn to listen to his voice and obey his word so that he will be with us and guide us continually.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus Christ, form in us the likeness of you. Deepen your life within us that we may be like you in word and deed. Help us to grow in the knowledge of your love and truth. May we listen your word and do your will now and forever. Amen.
